The Mary Atmar Johnson Scholarship was established to honor one of Tidelands Community Hospice’s founders and to perpetuate the cycle of caring and commitment to the communities it serves. “Mamar” served on the original committee to bring hospice care to Georgetown. Thanks to her and other community members grassroots efforts Tidelands Community Hospice, formerly Hospice of Georgetown, was granted licensure in March 1985 as one of the first not-for-profit hospices in South Carolina.
Each year, Tidelands Community Hospice Foundation awards four (4) $1,000 scholarships to four (4) recipients who are or will be pursuing a career in Nursing or Social Work. The Scholarship’s cycle runs from mid-January thru mid-March. At the beginning of the cycle scholarship information and application forms are posted. Scholarship winners are announced in April.
