Founded by members of the community thirty-six years ago, Tidelands Community Hospice has been providing care, comfort, and support to anyone in need of hospice care regardless of their ability to pay or life situation. New Paragraph
It’s important that at the end of life no person should be without hope, no person should be without the smallest of life’s necessities, no family should be without support, and no adult or child in our community should be without comfort and support when grieving the loss of a loved one.
No one with a life-limiting illness, regardless of financial status or life situation, should be without care at the end-of-life. Not all are covered by Medicare, Medicaid, or private insurance and not all are eligible. Rarely does Medicare, Medicaid, or private insurance cover the cost of care or meet all needs. Donations to Tidelands Community Hospice Foundation ensure that ALL, your friends, family, and neighbors in the community, who are in need receive care, beyond the traditional hospice role. At a time when every moment counts no one is turned away.
At the end of life no one should be without the smallest of life’s necessities. Patient Partners
aid patients and families in meeting their basic daily necessities, providing comfort care items, and other items that are not covered under Medicare, Medicaid, or private insurance. Daily necessities include food, nutritional supplements, rent, utilities, clothing, and personal care items.
Care comfort items range from a safety shower bar, baby monitor, radio to listen to music, haircut to a radio to listen to music.
Patients’ needs, and situations can vary beyond daily essentials and are not covered under Medicare, Medicaid, or private insurance. At the Foundation, we work with Tidelands Community Hospice’s care team to aid in those situations, which have included providing additional care for a young mother with breast cancer, paying for transportation for a family member to come be the caregiver, to assisting with funeral or cremation cost.
The Good Mourning Program, offered by the Foundation at no cost, is part of the Bereavement Services of Tidelands Community Hospice. It is tailored and available to all children and adolescents ages 6 -18 in Georgetown, Horry, and Williamsburg Counties who are grieving the loss of a loved one, friends, or family pet through death or life situations such as divorce, family move or incarceration of a parent.
The Program offers the opportunity for children/adolescents to share their feelings and to learn coping skills in a safe and comfortable setting. It includes session(s), led by Tidelands Community Hospice’s staff and trained volunteers, tailored to meet the specific needs and time frame for schools, churches, and organizations. If desired a Good Mourning Day Camp session is available. In addition, our staff is available to collaborate with school counselors and in the event of the death of a student or teach to collaborate with schools to meet their needs.
Services of Remembrance, open to the community, are offered by the Foundation as part of Tidelands Community Hospice’s Bereavement programs. The services, offer an opportunity to celebrate, reflect, light a candle, and to honor the life of loved ones who are no longer with us. 2023 dates are to be announced.
In an effort to bring awareness of Tidelands Community Hospice and its Foundation to the community, staff members of each are available to meet one-on-one or talk with your group. Programs can be tailored to meet the needs of your group. Please contact us to schedule.
Each year, the Tidelands Community Hospice Foundation and Tidelands Community Hospice hold special events to support our mission. You can make a difference in the lives of those we serve by attending and/or sponsoring and spreading the word about our events. We welcome and appreciate third-party events which are held by individuals, businesses, churches, and organizations to benefit the Tidelands Community Hospice Foundation.
All proceeds from events benefit our patients, families, and programs offered in the communities we serve.

In Memory of Someone Special: Honors the life of a special someone in your life while helping others in need.
Your donation to the Annual Gift Fund assists with the Foundation’s Charity Care, Patient Partners, and Special Programs for patients and families.
