A Message from Tidelands Community Hospice

We, at Tidelands Community Hospice, understand that (COVID-19) has brought what some refer to as “a new normal” and challenges. For some of our hospice patients and families, COVID-19, with its social distancing and economic situations, has added levels of anxiety and emotions to an already difficult time.

Loved ones of patients, who live out of this area or even locally, are not able to personally visit or to assist with caregiving. Some caregivers are no longer able to go pick up medications or groceries. We have family members who are no longer working and are faced with difficult economic situations. Sadly, there are families whose loved one has passed. They find themselves unable to hold a funeral attended by other family members and friends.

Since admitting our first patient in 1985, regardless of the situation, we have never wavered, in remaining focused on the principles that guide the way we serve our patients and families:
  • Always be patient-centric.
  • Quality care trumps all else.
  • Identify and address all their needs-often beyond physical, social, emotional and spiritual.
We continue to monitor the COVID-19 guidelines published by the CDC. To help in answering questions and addressing concerns, we are providing timely and accurate information as the situation evolves. The health, safety and wellness of our patients, their families, and our staff is a priority. Our staff follows a comprehensive plan of action that protects them, our patients and their families.

More so than usual, there are those facing situations and struggles that go beyond traditional hospice care. Thanks to the support of Tidelands Community Hospice Foundation, we can ensure that patients and families have access to the services they need, regardless of their financial status or life situation.

Rest assured our patients and families-your friends, neighbors, and families in the community-are in prepared and capable hands. Our dedicated staff works every day to overcome any emerging challenges of our patients and families – all to ensure that we’re doing everything possible to address and meet their emotional, physical, social, and spiritual needs.

Tidelands Community Hospice, as your community’s only locally based not-for-profit hospice, continues to be present for its patients, families, for all who are grieving and for the communities it serves-Georgetown, Horry, and Williamsburg counties. If we can be of assistance to you, do not hesitate to contact us at 843-546-3410.
